Verbena Can't Even

Though more physically coordinated by far than Djehuti, the second week Air magic lesson wasn't any easier for Verbena. The week was almost over before she even managed to summon up a good gust to push her along as she ran... but at least all the exertion made the cold more tolerable. However finally, she managed to harness the wind and it was sheer bliss! She had always loved to run, and now she was running faster than she'd ever done before. So thrilled was she that she got a little overconfident and decided to try a leap. It would be so close to flying, she thought, if she could only get a little lift under her partially developed wings. She lined up an open stretch of snowy meadow, dug her claws in, and ran like the wind, in a literal sense, letting the feeling of the air rushing past her fill her mind. She concentrated on sculpting the air, feeling it push her and lift her up, and then she sprang into the air.

Verbena was airborne for a thrilling few seconds as she stretched her arms wide, feeling the wind rush beneath them... and then she came crashing down into a snowbank. It just wasn't enough lift. Fortunately for her fragile ego, she'd chosen to practice alone, and her armored belly scales protected her chest, neck and chin from most of the damage, but she sustained bruises and scrapes on her arms that she would be loathe to try and explain, and a limp that would last long enough to remind her to curb her enthusiasm with caution in the future.

Well last week Djehuti got the rush job on homework so this week I decided to do his first, and Verbena gets the half arsed background. XD I like how the pose and expression turned out, though.
